3rd Time's a Charm...right?!

I've been meaning to write this for a few days now. However, this pain medication the Dr has me on is kicking my ass. I've either been in an enormous amount of pain or asleep. Yesterday, after a small breakdown and doing the ugly cry several times I spoke with the hospital and my Dr's office and got some new meds that help much better.

...though I must apologize ahead of time...I am still rather loopy from all this medication...

So Wednesday, June 15th I had knee surgery on my left knee. A lateral release scope with "muscle manipulation" to realign the knee cap. Two scope incisions plus a 2 inch incision to work on the muscle. Fun times let me tell you!

My surgery time was pushed back by about 4 hours. So when I arrived at the hospital at 12pm I was STARVING and super thirsty. Even Domino's Pizza looked delish...and I hate that crapola. Lucky for me once I got there they bumped me up since the surgery before me was late due to the patient not showing up yet. (yay.) Poor nurses and dr had a hard time finding a vein to start my ID. I got poked about 4-5 times before they finally got a good vein. Once the IV was in, it wasn't 15 min before the anestetic nurse came in and told me I'm ready to go and that I should be feeling the meds any second. Counting backwards...5...4...3....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

It seemed like 5 minutes went by when I opened by eyes to have two nurses standing above me talking about the circulation in my leg, asking what # on the pain scale I would rate my pain. I had a few problems breathing in recovering (would stop when I'd fall back asleep)...but that wore off after a while. The Dr said everything went great. He did notice that I had a lot of damage to my cartilage under my knee cap...which I kind of expected as I had that last time as well.

Since then...I've been laid up at home. Trying to get a hold of the pain and not fall asleep every 20 minutes. (I've nodded off a few times while typing this). So there ya go...I have a long road ahead of me with recovery. I'll share my fun with all of you as I go along!
