I've been meaning to continue the story of my trip to SC & GA for some time. I've been having some technical difficulties with my good old mac. Tech difficulties = hard drive crashed. I'm back...and hopefully will find some time to pick up where I left off!
And now back to our regularly scheduled posting...

After Atlanta, GA mom & I headed to Savannah, GA for a few days. Besides the actual Country Living Fair I was most excited about Savannah!
After our trip to Ballard Designs, we started our drive to Savannah. By this point we had driven from Charleston to Stone Mountain and Stone Mountain to Atlanta. We had NO idea there would be so many Waffle Houses. I believe there are more Waffle Houses in the South than McDonalds it seems.
Once we reached about the Atlanta airport Mom proposed a little wager...if there were 25 Waffle Houses from that point to our hotel in Savannah - then she would win $1.00. If there were 15 - I would win. (or whoever was closest). Turns out I won - there were 10!!
After we checked in at our hotel we set out on foot to explore Savannah and get something to eat. We had lunch at this yummy little restaurant called Kayak Kafe. It's a little place. Looks similar to a little sandwich shop and looks to share their space with a day spa. Mom had the Fried Chicken Tacos and I had a salad and sandwich. The salad was so good. I'm not sure if it was just my hunger or what - but I definitely recommend checking that place out if you're ever in the area!

The streets were cobblestone and were a little hard for me to get around with my "new knee" - but it was beautiful. There were large boats coming in to port, old sailboats, and old tour ferry boats.

Later that evening we had dessert at Lulu's Chocolate Bar.
The next day we started our day bright and early. We had a lot to accomplish in our last full day in Savannah.
Battlefield Park: This park commemorates the second bloodiest battle of the Revolutionary War. England occupied Savannah, GA. On Oct 9, 1779 2,500 British soldiers defended Savannah as about 5,500 American and French troops battled for the area. After the smoke cleared, Savannah remained in England's hands.

After Battlefield Park we headed over to Forsyth Park. Much of Forsyth Park commemorates the confederate soldiers during the Civil War.

After lunch we headed over to Tybee Island, GA. It's only about 20 minutes away from Savannah. It's a small, cute, laid back island town with beautiful beaches. I was able to put my feet in the cold Atlantic Ocean.

We spent much of the rest of the afternoon relaxing, exploring the beautiful squares throughout Savannah and getting ready for our trip the next day to Charleston....
