Stone Mountain, GA - Continued...

After the Country Living Fair we headed over the Stone Mountain Park. Stone Mountain Park is just outside of Atlanta, GA and is actually where the Country Living Fair was held so it wasn't too far of a drive for us.

Stone Mountain Park is a great place for family and kids in general. The park is beautiful and has the world's largest piece of exposed granite. In this granite is a memorial carving depicting three Confederate heroes of the Civil War: Confederate President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee and Lt. General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson.

The park has a small amusement park with all kids of kid-friendly things to do. Mom and I took a trip to the top of the mountain via the Summit Skyride to the top of the 825 foot mountain.
On our way up to the top
At the top we checked out the view of Atlanta...
That's Atlanta, just past the trees in the distance.
A friendly stranger took our picture at the windy top of the mountain...
After a while of looking down (I'm not a fan of heights) we headed back down before we got stuck on the Skyride with a bunch of roudy Middle School kids on a field trip.

We took a short hike around the park. There was a lot of information about the Confederacy. We read up on Texas...
We picked up a few pinecones (shhhh, not sure we were allowed to do that) from the beautifully tall trees...

After exploring Stone Mountain we decided to head in to Atlanta, check in to our hotel and figure out what to do next.
