INGREDIENTS:
- 1 - 1.5 lbs fresh ground beef (or turkey)
- Red Pepper
- 1 quart tomato juice
- 1 (29 oz) can tomato puree
- 1 (15 oz) can red beans, drained
- 1 medium onion (1.5 cups), chopped
- 1/2 cup celery, diced
- 1/2 cup green pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin (if you want more flavor, add a little more)
- 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

PREPARATION:
Brown beef in a pan adding a little red pepper while the beef is browning. You can add the onions at this point, or you can add them later (when adding all the ingredients to the pot). Drain the cooked meat. Put the drained beef and remaining ingredients in to a 6-quart pot. Cover the pot, let it simmer for 1-1.5 hours, stirring every 15 minutes or so.
