State Pride

One of the things I've noticed since I've been back in Texas is the state pride. I've always had pride in being a Native Texan. My mom was born in TX as was I. Despite only living in Texas for the first 8 years of my life...I always felt like this is where I was "from."

I've lived in 3 states (CA, AZ and TX) - and out of those 3 I've only really seen this kind of pride in Texas. I never saw hoards of cars with bumper stickers with the California or Arizona state flag plastered all over the back of cars nor did I ever hear people talk proudly of living in Arizona or California.  Let me clarify - I did hear a lot of people happy about living in certain areas of these states. For those who have lived in California...you'll know the kind of pride I'm talking about when referring to the NoCal or SoCal lovers out there. Or folks who love living in a certain city (Carlsbad, San Diego, etc).

I've only really seen this kind of state pride from Texans and New Yorkers. (Keep in mind - I've only visited maybe 15-20 or so of the 50 states so my scope of this observation may be a little small.) The kind of pride where no matter what is going on (politics, drama, budget cuts, housing trends, etc) they are still proud to hail from that state.

So my question is...what state do you hail from? And do you share this same kind of state pride?
