Need a Treat? Monkey Munch

This is the recipe used on an old Jon & Kate + 8 (when they were still married) website, but there are several variations to this recipe. Bradley loves this stuff...and I must admit it's pretty addicting. It's a recipe that's fun for the family to share in making! You can eat it by itself or put it on vanilla icecream.

 INGREDIENTS:

  •  9 cups of Chex Cereal (any variety. we use the honey nut flavor)
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips (we use milk chocolate vs. semi-sweet)
  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar

 PREPARATION:

  •  Put Chex in large bowl and set aside.
  • Place chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter/margarine in to a quart size microwavable bowl.
  • Stir ingredients together
  • Microwave the mixture uncovered for a minute on high. Stir the mix again and continue to zap in 30 second intervals until it mixes smoothly
  • Add vanilla extract and stir.
  • Pour over the cereal while stirring.
  • Put combination in to a 2-gallon, Ziploc freezer bag
  • Add powdered sugar, seal the bag and shake until distributed.
  • Spread Spread Monkey Munch out on wax paper to cool and dry.

Even your little monkey can help clean up the bowl!
